SILENCE OF THE LAMBS
The film Silence of the lambs has many similarities to our film, sharing the same sub-genre of psychological thriller, and also featuring the similar character of a young female phycologist who begins to become controlled and mentally manipulated by her intelligent client, Hannibal Lectre.
Movie Poster- Very iconic and recognisable. It features the female lead Jodie Foster (playing phycologist Clarice Starling) staring dauntingly straight forward with a moth on her mouth. The poster actually reveals multiple different hidden features of the film, which are only revealed after viewing. The eerie, blue and black hues of the poster also clarify its thriller genre.
Movie clip- This shows how Lectre is able to manipulate Starling into revealing past experiences of her life, showing his hold on her. The relationship between the characters is very similar to our film, with one able to control the other despite being the patient and not the psychologist. The shots of Lectre also present him as a scary, superior figure to Starling, by using different angles and lighting to present him as a figure who shouldn’t be crossed.
Movie clip- The personality of Lectre shows a significant amount of similarity to the character reflecting him in our film. He is ruthless yet intelligent, planning out his attacks immaculately as well as having a strong disliking for the authoritative figures who keep him in his imprisonment.
